I want to know what color i should do my eye shadow.?

im going to a party and wearing a simple black dress. i dont want to do black eye shadow. it doesnt look right on me. i need suggestions!!!!!!!I want to know what color i should do my eye shadow.?

you should use the color that compliments your eye color. any color goes with black. i think plum or purple colors look good with brown eyes and also gold or copper.

Almay makes color paletes specifically to complement eye color. I think the brown is a light brown for all over, a darker brown for the lid and a mauvish color for the corner. It has the suggested color application on the package. Plus you can get the eyeliner that goes with it. Buy all this for about $6 at walmart. I have the green and got a lot of compliments. But it all depends on what type of effect you want. I like more subtle and natural. You can always go witha darker lip color and lighter eyes...i think that looks nice. plus i've heard that you should do one or the other (eyes or lips) as the main focus, you don't want to overdo your whole face.

Purple goes great with brown eyes (or with any other eye color, really). I would opt for a sheer shade. If you are more novice at applying eye shadow, cream formulas that you can blend with your finger are great. I would start with a more flesh-colored or tan base highlighter, that you can apply up to your brow line. Then, apply the sheer purple shade in inner and outer corners of your eyes. Blend well! Add some brown eyeliner and a couple coats of mascara and you'll have pretty eyes that pop but that don't scream ';LOOK AT ME! I HAVE COLOR ON MY EYELIDS!'; :)
go with the aqua... i have brown eyes and it looks hot. don't be afraid put it on heavy.

NO...Please, do NOT use red! Most people cannot apply that type of color and look good unless they know what they are doing. I wish I knew what eye color you have. It helps but is not necessary...because sometimes people think they can only where certain colors but that isn't true. I would suggest 3 colors. Take the lightest shade, for instance a cream color and dust it from your lashes to the top of your eyebrow. This should not look thick! If your eyes are far apart, place a little bit of shadow near the inner corner of your eye in a color a shade darker; such as gray or green or whatever palatte you choose. If your eyes are closer together, then put the color on the outer part of your eye. Make sure to line the top of your lashes in black and perhaps your lower eyelid in brown. It's a nice contrast. Don't forget mascara!
use a light brown almost baige color on your lid, then in the crease use a dark brown and on your upper lid put a glittery skin color shadow that only shows the glitter cause the shadow matches your skin. this will give the natural beauty look.
my answer is if u plan on wearing a black dress and u have brown eyes u sohould wear natral colored make up like a light brown eyeshadow , black or brown eyeliner, and maybe a light pink or brown lipstick
